I've been playing this game and having a lot of fun! It's been filled with so much drama with just the start. I've been writing it like a story about my blind ronin. It's been a great mood booster while recovering from surgery and also the first solo ttrpg I'm trying. I'm like wondering where it's gonna go and like waiting for the next episode ! haha Great game and easy to follow along so far. Here's what I've done so far. https://www.tumblr.com/chase-ordonis/755317594967490560/ronin-solo-ttrpg?source=...

Hi!

Two questions about this great game!

1) When I successfully Talk to an enemy, does it ends the Fight? And can I immediately roll for his Dark Secret?

2) What happen when a Villain with Jitte destroys my blade? I’ve interpreted this situation in this way (just to be sure I’ve done it correctly): villain destroyed my blade, I then surrendered (rolled a 6, so not be killed), woke up wounded and rolled on Leaving the Trail table (page 8) with the intent of searching a new blade. If in this case I roll a 1 (not finding the item and encountering an enemy too), I must surrender and hope he will not kill me.

Is this procedure correct?

Thank you very much, I really love this game!

afaik 1) You can roll for dark secret once you've successfully talked.   Only successful intimidate will skip the fight.

Is there a print version in English?

I'm having lots of fun playing this game! Very nice self-contained solo experience, no oracles or external tools required. I'm even thinking about grabbing the random tables and using them along with a system with a little bit more mechanical "meat" on its bones. But this is a great little narrative solo game as it is (and there's no need to journal extensively or what have you)!

However, I have one rules question: when you defeat a villain, does your Reputation reset? Because I fought the first villain, and then the very next roll I made for "Route", I got the second villain! Thanks in advance.

What is Table 16 supposed to be? It's missing from the version here and the version on DTRPG.

Table 16 is a typo. it should be table 19; Final Villian

But table 16 still missing in the book ;)

What about the Shinobi expansion? Where do I get it?

I would also like to know if it is possible to get the Shinobi Expansion, and in English.

Searching I found that there is also another expansion in Portuguese, I don't remember the name but they are the fighting Buddhist monks.

Judging from the Portuguese websites I can find, the expansion with the monks is called "Sohei"

Yes!
I'm still testing Sohe, so it will take some time.
Shinobi will be translated soon!
:D

This is good news! Hopefully the testing and translating goes well. I look forward to giving you my money :p

Thanks for answering, that's good news.

Hi, I notice this already an old post but let's try. I have played your solo game Ronin and it is awesome, especially for someone who loves the genre. So I noticed there is talk abut expansions for Ronin, called Shinobi and Sohei. Is this still a plan or are these game out somewhere? Where could I find them? Sincere greetings...

Tony

I've been writing Ronin hacks that add mechanics to expand the game and make it much more difficult.  Do you have any sort of policy or license in regards to this?  I'm happy to go into more details on it, if this interests you.  I'm not on WhatsApp.  Best.

Excellent solo game. We tested it with a friend, intertwining the adventures of our characters, playing each in turn, and it was very pleasant.

There is perhaps a lack of precision on the healer (ally) which, we think, prevents the character from dying only once (and not forever). And we would have appreciated more mechanical consequences from the "leaving the trails" moves.

But these two points are minor and the system is robust and detailed enough to support the narrative without being cumbersome.

We really liked some elements, like the appearance of the NPCs or the definition of the setting for encounters with bad guys :)

I highly recommend this game !

What does destroying an enemy's blade do (jitte)? Does it have any mechanical impact on the game or is it just narrative?

We interpret this rule as : "if you destroy the ennemy blade with your jitte, you win the fight". Then, as usual, your character my knock or kill the opponent.

That gives some funny scene if both opponents are using jitte and the roll is tie : do all opponents loose their weapon or is the round cancelled. (Maybe the story/context gives some hints)

that happened to me. It was my ally and baddie so I looked at the guy and was like you still wanna go? I laughed at the scenario

I picked up this game from The Solo But Not Alone 3 promotion. Does anyone have the English character sheet PDF? My PDF is in English but the character sheet is in Portuguese.

Hi Mike!
I just uploaded the english character sheet!
:D

Thank you so much.

Like others, this is my first Solo RPG and my experience with Ronin is great! The simpler approach to the oracle and combat mechanics allow me to immerse in the role-playing much better than I thought before going in. Definitely worth a purchase for me!

The only nitpick I have is that the urban encounter table may become repetitive as the session goes further. But, my session was pretty long due to some bad rolls. So, your experience may vary!

This is a fun game!

Is there any chance that the print edition would be made available in the US? Also, I would love to pay for an english version of Nebula Pirates of Marduk and Hunter's Diary if you get the chance to translate them. For now I'm leveraging my understanding of spanish and latin, along with Google translate to work through the portuguese but it's a less than ideal solution.

Is there an English character sheet available?  I just downloaded and looks like it's still the non-English one.

Parabéns pelo trabalho!

The character sheet on the English download is in Portuguese.  Is there another place to download an English one? I actually just used a journal instead, but it would be nice to have. Enjoying the game and the story it creates. Thank you.

Hi,

I purchased your game, and I'm very excited to get started. However, I noticed a few errors in the writing. Would you like me to point these out, or are you pretty well set with the game as it is?

(+2)

It's fine. The only weird error is the table reference, but all tables are there! There is no Table 16, and when its referenced, its the table 19.

Thanks!

Hi I am ata stage where it tells me to reveal the final Villian and says table 16. I dont see a table 16, my copy goes from Table 15 Occupation to Table 17 Exotic Location. Am I supposed to skip ahead to table 19 which listsFinal Villian?

Yes! It was a mistake. Its the final villain table.

tha k you

I noticed that the English pdf had a Spanish character sheet in the back instead if an English one. It's easy enough to track everything on a piece of scrap paper of course.

Great game. Easy mechanics and beautiful art throughout. Highly recommend for any Solo game enthusiasts.

Thanks Krakn!
I will fix that next week.
Thanks for the feedback and for your words!

i saw the same thing. Is there an English Version?

This is such a cool game. I love the way it doesn't rely on yes/no oracles etc to drive the narrative.  I have written a small review on my solo RPG blog https://rpgsologames.com/ronin-review/

Thanks for the review; I'm going to go for it thanks to what you said!

Ronin is a solo masterpiece. It takes you by the hand and teach you the basic steps about how a solo game works.

Very fun to play, and have the feudal japan atmosphere!

This is the first solo RPG I ever played, and I highly recommend it for both those who have never tried solo play, and for experienced solo players, since it has a very original, but simple approach.
